Portulaca 95/365

My first attempt felt like it was missing something so I created the dewdrops with a spray bottle.

A Walk in the Park 90/365

Eisenhower Park, Nassau County NY – I think this is the Fireman’s Memorial but I’m not positive.  What captured my attention was the rich blue sky even through the double sets of windows.

GRENADE! 88/365

Unlike most things I shot today, this one was technically challenging.  It’s a novelty item, so there’s no cause for alarm.  I shot this a dozen different ways with many different gels.   Minimal post processing and stitching done in PS.

Zen Garden Fountain 87/365

Some day’s I have no inspiration but today my lack of talent dominated as I wasn’t happy with anything I shot, including this.  In the corner of the yard is a quiet area with benches, rockers, adirondack chairs, fire pit, and a fountain.  Shot with both an ND4 & ND8 filters to show the water flow, f/22~25 sec~iso 200~35mm.

Multiple Meanings 85/365

The irony of this is that there is a 300 year old cemetery just beyond the sign.  6 second monochrome shot ~f/5.6~iso 200 ~500mm.

Mute Swan 84/365

This is the fist time I’ve ever seen one of these outside of a zoo and that makes its memorable. I had trouble selecting the one I liked best....

Wisteria 82/365

I hate this stuff! It has a pretty flower but everything else about it is evil. It grows on an adjacent property and scales a 9ft fence to enter my yard.  Everything this vine wraps itself around dies.  It’s covered with tiny barbs, it’s strong as hell, and it grows at an alarming rate.

Colorific 81/365

More experimentation with off camera flash on these multicolored crayons, flash left, f/11~1/60~iso 200~52mm~flash at ¼ power.

The Garden 80/365

I spent the day working in the yard and planting.  No real time to pick up the camera today….

Results I can live with 79/365

Finally, something I don’t hate.  Flash high on camera left with double diffuser gel and snoot.

Opportunist 78/365

He’s the uninvited guest that shows up anytime there’s a free meal to be had.

Total Trash 77/365

If, and that’s a very BIG IF, anything good can be said about this its that both off camera flashes fired.   I clearly need lots of practice…….

Chicklets 75/365

Inspired by Alan's Skittles I choose mini chicklets because I didn't like my previous effort with jellybeans and thought something smaller would work better.

Bubble Art 74/365

Water and oil may not mix but the separation makes interesting photographs.  The idea came from this months issue of popphoto.

A peaceful and tranquil spot for sure. Too bad its not in my backyard.

Nature’s Carpet 70/365

I don’t know what they call this stuff that falls off the trees this time of year, but it covers everything.

Mr. Personality 69/365

He’s charming, , witty, provoking, comical, and at times a better conversationalist than some humans I know.

Snapping Turtle 67/365

This weekend’s accidental theme is uncommon pets. I had an opportunity to fire off a few frames and a couple of them came out well despite my being unprepared for the aquarium . I’ll definitely revisit this subject again.

Bearded Dragon 66/365

Native of Australia but this guy hails from across the street. My neighbor saw me out and about and offered up this uncommon subject.

Back to Business 65/365

Spent too many hours upgrading my Mac and playing with iPhoto09.  The facial recognition capabilities are amazing and Geo-Tagging will become an everyday thing before long. It ties into Google Maps and allows you to plot the locations where you’ve been shooting.  Anyway… I’ll definitely pickup my camera again tomorrow and get back to business.
