Snowscapes

We’ve had 54 inches (137cm) of snow this month so I decided it was time for a series of snowscapes. Rather than uploading 15-20 images I made a simple movie using iMovie.  The song, Acoustic #3 by the Goo Goo Dolls was randomly picked because of its length (1:57).  The video quality on full screen is terrible and its difficult to see the images in the tiny window provided here, so I posted them on Flickr if you want to view them as a slide show.

Fountain

Even though I know they heat the water I find it puzzling that the entire thing isn’t frozen solid.  We had 3 consecutive days where it barely reached 20° (-6.5° C) for the daytime high and tonight was a mild evening in the low-mid 30’s (~0° C).

Skating Rink

Citi Pond is a temporary structure and skating rink assembled in the heart of midtown Manhattan.  As a kid I spend many winter afternoons and evening at the neighborhood rink.     I can’t remember the last time I went…..
