One Is The Magic Number 213/365

I went to see the Yankees beat their archrival Red Sox 3-0. The magic number to clinch the AL East is 1. Here is an action shot of Johnny Damon stealing 2nd. Canon 50D with Sigma 50-500mm at f/8~1/400 sec~ iso 800~ 500mm

Work Zone 208/365

Construction on this bridge has been ongoing for more that 3 years. I think it was supposed to be a 15 month project.

Gone Fishin’ 207/365

We had an absolutely beautiful day today so I went for a bike ride and ended up at beach. I saw this group on one of the marsh islands but I don’t know how they got there. There were plenty of boats in the channel but I didn't see anything thing that could have been used to ferry them over.

Makes You Wonder 205/365

Should I be worried about my safety or my civil rights as I enter the neighborhood?

Broccoli 202/365

Very close up... What else is there to say? Clearly, it was a desperate night seeking out subjects. It was this or the avocados.

Office Essentials 201/365

Little time or motivation tonight as I have to catch up on work related items. I found a large stash of these last week when looking for something else and thought it would be a good subject for a rainy day.

Daisy Belle – RIP 199/365

We will miss you, and we will not be the same without you. You’ve been such an integral part of our lives and our family and you’re loved so deeply by all of us. For 13 years you gave us unconditional love, joy, companionship, and laughter. You asked for little in return. You loved mommy, bagels, and flip-chips more than anything else. You will always be our “puppy.”

Remembering Sept 11th

Today is a day of remembrance, especially in NYC. This is a photo I took back in 1993 with a film camera but I edited it today.

Star Spangled Soldier 196/365

A family friend “G” stopped by with his latest collectable so we broke out the gear and took about 80 shots of Captain America. This was his favorite. Shot with a Canon 24-70 f/2.8L at f/8 - 1/125 – 24mm – iso 200 with 580EX camera left and 380EX camera right.

Lover’s Embrace 195/365

They were not shy about displaying their affection for each other. But I felt a bit uneasy taking the shot. Good thing I had a 200mm lens and they were oblivious to my presence.

Goose 194/365

I took a 20 mile bike ride today and stopped at Mill Pond Preserve for a few pictures. I was panning around and this one was looking right at me, so I took her picture.

Recessed Lighting 193/365

A lame attempt to create something from nothing. I used a laser pointer to provide the red tint and the glass bulb diffuses it effectively.

Sconce 192/365

It was challenging to find a subject and I was determined to avoid all forms of plant life. We have a pair of these on the living room wall. This is the view from the floor.

Duh…. 191/365

Is the 4ft sign really necessary? I think the choice is obvious.

Go right, step into the street and you walk into the path of an oncoming NYC bus. Go left to walk around the construction obstacle. Which way would you go?

NYC Protest 189/365

I work very close to the UN and the Israeli Mission. Both of which are frequent targets of protests. Due to the proximity of my work and these two high profile facilities my employer receives advanced notice of demonstrations and informs the employees. Today there were ~2000 Orthodox Jews peacefully protesting the Israeli Mission over treatment they receive by Israeli Police.

Renewal 188/365

It used to be the Crystal Palace catering and banquet hall. To my knowledge it didn’t do much business and sat vacant for a number of years. I have no idea what it will become but I’m hoping the neighborhood benefits. I probably should have taken this a few days ago when there was a huge pile of rubble. Shot with a Sigma 12-24mm at f/5.6 - 1/250 sec – 12mm – iso 200 using the live-view feature while reaching over the fence.
