Thin Ice

We had absolutely beautiful weather this weekend.  Like the rest of us, this little pond is looking forward to warmed days and the thaw of winter cold.

Trapped In the Ice

Air Bubbles - The ice is thin and the blue color tint is from the pool cover
Thicker ice - the lower left corner is protruding through the ice
 A twig
 Seed
This leaf sort of melted into the ice.  There's no ice/water on top of the leaf and the shape of the leaf is perfectly cut into the ice.   Click it for a larger view

A Lil More Snow

We woke up this morning to find a few inches of snow on the ground.  This after a few days of 50-60 degree weather that finally cleaned away the mountains of January snows.

Sconce

This is one of the sconces we have hanging on the dining room wall.   The flash was on a light stand at the same height of the sconce.

Seeing Double

This is horrible and it belongs in the trash and by the time you read this that’s where it will be.  I must admit, there is something curious about it and that’s why I posted it.

Waterdrops

This is a combination of previous work to come up with something new.  I set a hatpin in a small portable vise.  Using an eyedropper I placed the drop of water on the end.  I used different gift bags as a background.  Once again I used iMovie but this time I went with a lower resolution (medium) hoping for a better web experience, but it didn't make a difference. They are hard to see in this window and full screen is terrible.   The song, Wasted Time (Reprise) by The Eagles from Hotel California was randomly selected based upon length.   The Flickr slideshow can be found here.

Tripod mounted Canon 50D with a 50mm 1.4 prime lens and 36mm extension tube.  Off camera flash at 1/64 power radio triggered at 45 °

Footprint

It rained most of the day, which is a good thing because we already have enough snow.  Plus it helped to wash away some on the snow.
