Not really, but its been a very hot month.  This has been leaning against the tree since 4^th of July when I used it to clean up fireworks debris.  I meant to put it away but I wanted to shoot it first.  I finally got around to it.

My family treated me to a Yankee game.  Too bad they were crushed by the Angles 10-2.  Phil Hughes was not his usual self and the bullpen didn't perform any better in relief.

My wife has a mixed bouquet of flowers with a few Peruvian Lilies.  The room was dimly lit so I worked the flash under the bouquet. 

Walker Lanes 118/365

We have Bus Lanes, Car Lanes, HOV Lanes, Express Lanes, E-Z Pass Lanes, Cash Lanes, Exit Only Lanes, and Bike Lanes throughout NYC, but a Walker Lane?  

If you look closely on the left hand side you’ll see one of the exits for the Queens-Midtown Tunnel.  I hope the elderly gentleman made it to his destination. 

Blue Moon Beer 117/365

Hmmm – I don’t think so.  A few of us went for burgers for lunch and they had milk shakes on the menu.  We had a good chuckle when they were served in beer glasses.

I stuck a handful of neon straws into a snooted flash.  I’ve seen this before and I’d like to give credit to the person whose idea I’ve copied but I can’t remember.  Whoever you are, thanks.  If you leave a comment I’m more than happy to modify the post and provide the proper recognition.

I had hurry to grab this shot as it was being gobbled up quickly.

Shot through an umbrella camera right at 45 degrees and a white foam board to help light the back side.  f/11 ~ 1/60 sec ~ ISO 200 ~ 25mm ~ flash at 1/16 power.

I like the texture and the fuzz.

Up close with a 12mm extension tube. The lens was less than ½ inch from the subject.  I surrounded the plate with white foam board on 3 sides with flash camera right and high to provide fill.  f/5.6~ 1/125 sec~ iso 200 ~ 32mm ~ Flash at ¼ power.

But I didn’t know she was broken…  Madison went to the Vet to be spayed and has a shaved belly, 8 stitches, and a scar to show for it. 

Sniper Strap 111/365

My camera and everyday lens weigh almost 4lbs, the exact weight is 59oz.  For the longest time I’ve dealt with the neck strain of carrying the camera or slung it over my shoulder, not exactly the safest or best way to carry around expensive gear.  I researched 8 different carry options and selected the Sniper Strap by Sun-Sniper.com.  More information can be found here

Similar to yesterday but using  the more traditional approach involving light stands, 3 strobes, and radio triggers…

Light Painting the Backyard 109/365

I set a wide-angle shot, 8 second exposure and ran across the backyard with a speedlight in each hand and manually triggered them.  The first few attempts captured me as a silhouette but I realized that if I stayed out of the frame I got the results I was looking for.

He was also the host of the party. We shared good food, good drink, good times, and good friends in his yard. 

Taking Shelter 107/365

I was at the golf course and some of the sprinklers were on.  I sought out an advantage point that would allow me to capture the spray while avoiding a bath and keeping my camera dry.   I got the shot I wanted and my camera made it through it by ducking under the tree.

Fungus 106/365

I went for a bike ride to a nearby park and happened upon a dead tree with 2 large mushrooms growing on it.  I got down low to capture the beautiful blue sky we had today.   Minor post-processing to bring out shadow highlights as everything was in silhouette.
